Welcome to Gate City, Virginia

The Town of Gate City lies in the mountains of Southwest Virginia, an area rich in both pioneer and Native American history. With a population of 2,159, Gate City is seat of Scott County’s government, and the principal gateway from Virginia to East Tennessee and the City of Kingsport.

The Town offers residents a quiet location with several vintage and antique stores, as well as department stores, hardware stores, supermarkets, several restaurants, a park with little league baseball facilities, an elementary, middle and high school and much more, all with quick access to a major metropolitan area in neighboring Kingsport.
