Boards and Commissions

The Town Council relies on several boards and commissions to carry out the duties of government. These boards are staffed by volunteers. Meeting information for most boards and the council appear on the Calendar. All meetings are open to the public.

Planning Commission

The Planning Commission meets on the 1st Tuesday of each month. The Commission reviews ordinances, subdivision and zoning requests, and performs research for the Town Council.

Sanitation Authority

The Planning Commission meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. The Authority deals with matters related to sewerage within the town. Although appointed by council, the Authority is an independent legal entity.

Economic development And Revitalization

EDARC is tasked with business development and the promotion of Gate City's downtown. The committee meets the 1st Monday of each month at Town Hall at 6:30 p.m.

Facade Improvement

The facade board is working with the CDBG grant administrator to implement facade improvements to Gate City's downtown business area. Questions should be addressed to grant administrator Rob Jones of Sustainable Development Consulting at 276-202-6601.
